Do Something Special for a Senior or Person with Disability: Be a Volunteer
Volunteer opportunities await a kind-hearted person willing to help a senior or adult with disability stay independent. Independent Living, Inc. has clients hoping for volunteers who will just give them a phone call to remind them to take medication, or shovel snow, or even run errands. Others would enjoy a friendly visitor. Volunteers also are needed for many other services, including delivery of evening Meals on Wheels and administrative support. Have a talent or a little time to share? Please contact the Volunteer Services Program Manager at 608-268-9641 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Every Tuesday, there is a free orientation session, open to the public, that explains the volunteer program and opportunities. Upcoming sessions are:
Feb. 18, March 4 and March 18 – 12:15 p.m. at The Gardens, 602 N. Segoe Rd., Madison
Feb. 11, Feb. 25, March 11 and March 25 – 5:15 p.m. at Main Office, 2970 Chapel Valley Rd, Suite 203, Madison.
Independent Living, Inc. is a local, non-profit, multi-service agency with 40 years of experience assisting seniors and adults with disabilities with their independence. In addition to volunteers, ILI offers in-home services including Evening Meals on Wheels, home safety modifications (handrails, ramps, bathroom modifications, equipment, etc.), housekeeping, yard work, and errands; personal care services including bathing and grooming assistance; home medical care including nursing and therapy (physical, occupational and speech), and senior housing options in Madison, Fitchburg and Sun Prairie.
