Independent Living, Inc. is proud to announce that Tennyson Senior Living Community was honored as Best New Development – Residential (Multi-Unit) by In Business magazine’s Commercial Design Awards 2019.
The award was presented April 4 by Jon Konarske, magazine publisher, to Ben Delzer, project manager at CG Schmidt, Inc. which submitted the project to the design awards competition. A national panel of three judges cited several factors in selecting Tennyson. As reported in In Business:
- The 88,549-square-foot building meets an “amenity test” aligned with senior living centers becoming community focused
- The large atrium entrance is flooded with natural light and sets an inviting tone
- Large, sun-lit gathering areas complete with shared kitchen spaces on each floor help residents build a sense of community where they can visit with friends, host activities like movie nights, or create and cook a meal together
Architects were Engberg Anderson, and Westbury Bank provided financing. In accepting the award, Ben emphasized the similar missions between CG Schmidt and Independent Living to make life and the community better for others. An important addition to senior living places in Madison, Tennyson also is the new home to the Evening Meals on Wheels program.
