Martin is New Manager of Evening Meals on Wheels

Doug Martin has been named manager of the Evening Meals on Wheels program at Independent Living, Inc. Doug will be coordinating many responsibilities, including client orders, meal distribution, and volunteer delivery of meals. He also will be conducting nutritional risk assessments for every client who enrolls with the Evening Meals on Wheels program. Previously, Doug was at the American Red Cross in Madison, where he worked as a Basic Life Support/CPR/AED instructor. In addition to teaching, he helped schedule classes for the entire state of Wisconsin. His background also includes safety management and several years as an Emergency Medical Technician on an ambulance. Doug says, “I am all about service to the community and am thrilled to have this opportunity to serve Evening Meals on Wheels!” In his spare time, Doug plans to teach classes for the American Red Cross as a volunteer.
Clients with the Evening Meals on Wheels program receive meals that a chef-prepared and made fresh daily. The meals are delivered by kind volunteers between 4:30 and 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. Weekend meal options are available, and many special diets can be accommodated, including gluten-free and vegetarian. Independent Living, Inc. is a local nonprofit organization bringing numerous services to seniors, as well as offering senior living communities in Madison, Fitchburg and Sun Prairie.
